Although Alexandra’s visible symptoms are relatively mild, her clinical symptoms have worsened as she has grown. She suffers with constant eye irritation, difficulty breathing with a permanent stuffy nose, and upper teeth well-spaced from the bottom. She also endures teasing and taunts from her classmates on a daily basis.
In the United States since 2007, Alexandra learned English quickly and has been an honor roll student in middle school. Her dream is to be a doctor and to help other children around the world.
On October 29, 2009, our esteemed Dr. Wolfe performed surgery on Alexandra at Miami Children’s Hospital.
UPDATE
February 1, 2010: Please see pictures taken of Alexandra just one month after surgery, where you can see that she is healing very nicely. Please check back soon for new photos of her without all the swelling that is evident in this photo. |
